Our Offerings & Weekly Rythem
-
A 3-day, nature-rooted learning program for elementary-aged kids
Monday–Wednesday • 10:00 AM–3:00 PMThe Solstice House is a gentle, community-powered learning space where kids grow in their own season and at their own pace.
Our days blend movement, hands-on discovery, emotional ecology, unstructured play, and multi-age collaboration — all within a predictable, sensory-safe rhythm. We begin each day with an optional Morning Walk (8:30–10:00 AM)
for families who want to ease into the day with movement, fresh air, and community.
Slow mornings are welcomed, so joining the walk is never required — just a comforting way to start the day for those who want it.At 10:00 AM, we officially begin with Active Hour, followed by our Discovery Block for project-based exploration, and end with Free Time so kids can reset, play, and integrate the day.
Each week offers creativity, nature exploration, friendship-building, and meaningful learning — without rushing, pressure, or overstimulation.
Solstice House is learning that feels like home: warm, joyful, grounded, and child-centered.

Real-world learning out in the wild.
Adventure Days (Thursdays, Fridays + Occasional Weekends)
Every week we take our learning beyond the walls and into the world.
Adventure Days include hikes, tidepools, botanical gardens, museums, art installations, cultural sites, community gardens, and local events.Parents are encouraged to join when they can — and if they can't, just let us know so we can ensure your child has the support they need.
We want every child to feel safe, connected, and cared for during these big explorations.Adventure Days help kids:
regulate through movement
build confidence
deepen friendships
explore new interests
learn through real sensory experiences
connect with the community and environment
It’s learning that sticks — because they can see it, touch it, and live it.
-
Because kids thrive when families feel connected, too.
Solstice House is more than a program — it’s a village.
Throughout the year we host relaxed, joyful gatherings where families can meet, share food, celebrate the seasons, and build relationships that support our kids.Family Gatherings may include:
seasonal potlucks & picnics
beach bonfires
tidepool mornings
community art days
storytelling nights
parent support circles
cultural celebrations
gardening days
nature walks
skill-sharing workshops
There is no pressure to attend every event — come when you can, as you are.
The goal is simple:
create a community where families feel as held and welcomed as the children do.
Seasonal Rhythm, Monthly Themes & Weekly Focus
How learning flows at The Solstice House
At Solstice House, our learning follows the rhythm of the seasons — gentle, cyclical, and intentionally paced. Each month has a theme inspired by nature, culture, or emotional ecology, and each week offers a different lens for exploring that theme.
This keeps learning fresh, accessible, and deeply connected to the world around us, while giving kids predictable patterns they can rely on.
Here’s how our weekly rhythm works:.
-
(Arts, SEL & Culture)
Where creativity meets connection.
Through visual arts, music, and storytelling, students explore self-expression while learning empathy, collaboration, and cultural appreciation. Activities blend process art with social-emotional learning, encouraging kids to see the beauty in themselves and others.
Example Projects:Create a collaborative mural celebrating kindness
Make clay sculptures inspired by global folk art
Write and perform short skits about friendship and understanding
-
(Nature & Environmental Studies)
Exploring the living world, one wonder at a time.
Kids dive into the ecosystems around them, discovering the interconnectedness of plants, animals, and people. Lessons weave science with storytelling to inspire stewardship and a deep love for the planet.
Example Projects:Build a bug hotel to support local pollinators
Map a nearby habitat and document species in a nature journal
Create recycled art sculptures that raise awareness about conservation
-
(STEM)
Where curiosity sparks innovation.
Hands-on experiments, engineering challenges, and playful problem-solving bring science, technology, engineering, and math to life. Kids work together to ask big questions, test ideas, and invent creative solutions.
Example Projects:Design and race balloon-powered cars
Build a simple circuit to light up a model house
Conduct kitchen science experiments like making “elephant toothpaste” or building edible structures
-
(Culture & Connection)
Celebrating the stories that shape us.
A global journey through culture, traditions, and community, this week invites kids to share their own stories and learn from others. Food, music, and art become bridges between experiences and perspectives.
Example Projects:Cook and share a simple recipe from a featured culture
Create personal “story flags” to represent heritage and identity
Build a collaborative map showing where class traditions and stories come from
